Contact caltopiedi@fight.org Ext. 222Why did you join FIGHT? I knew that Philadelphia FIGHT was a grassroots agency that worked with parolees, uninsured, and underinsured. I was drawn to the hands-on case management work. Explain what you do at FIGHT. Case managers provide services and resources to our clients. The resources contribute to all aspects of their life such as insurance, prescriptions and housing, as well as referrals to specific agencies for clothing, food, and other basic daily needs. We aim to meet the needs of our HIV/AIDS clients to ensure a safe and healthy life. Tell us about a specific moment that stands out during your career at FIGHT. I distinctly remember a situation where I was able to provide a client with the first and last months rent. My client had previously been homeless and had reached a point where he was finally able to get off the streets. He hit a roadblock when he couldn’t afford the security deposit. I worked with him to find emergency funding, and he was so grateful. Working for an AIDS service organization can be hard. What keeps you motivated? Every day I find myself in the unique atmosphere where I can continually help people. My motivation lies in the ability to compass my client’s lives in a healthy and safe direction. |
