What is Critpath?
Critical Path offers Internet services to groups traditionally left behind by technology (poor, disenfranchised and marginalized communities) for the cost of a local call. Services include access to the World Wide Web, web-based email, Internet connectivity, domain name hosting, web site hosting and web based mailing lists for affinity groups.
Unlike commercial services, Critical Path does not charge fees for registration or monthly line-time charges. Critical Path has no time limits for usage, no advertisements, and there is nothing to install. Neither does it charge for Internet dial-up access, networking software, or applications programs. Once configured on your computer, you can simply use whatever browser (i.e. Internet Explorer or Netscape) is most comfortable.
History of Critical Path AIDS Project
The Critical Path AIDS Project was founded by people with HIV/AIDS to provide treatment, resource, and prevention information in wide-ranging levels of detail--for researchers, service providers, treatment activists -- but, first and foremost, for other people with HIV/AIDS who often find themselves in urgent need of information quickly and painlessly.
Critical Path provides easy access to the full range of potentially life-extending or life-saving HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and referral information. Critical Path makes it easier for individuals and their health care providers to make informed treatment decisions, based on the very latest, most complete and accurate treatment information and clinical trials findings available.
The Critical Path AIDS Project has focused on advocacy to improve and accelerate the development of effective treatments for HIV/AIDS. Our founder Kiyoshi Kuromiya participated in numerous advisory committees, panels, boards, and when necessary, protests and civil disobedience, in order to push for more sensible and effective research structures, strategies, and studies.
The Critical Path AIDS Project Web page offers an up-to-date, navigable and focused set of resources. It provides links and information for people with HIV/AIDS, other HIV/AIDS activists and their allies.
This website is geared toward those who are already fighting the system and those who want to get involved in activists movements. Includes organizations and resources for research and drug development activities. Provides information for people living with HIV/AIDS about accessing costly medications and benefits. Because people living with HIV/AIDS often have to fight for issues that are indirectly related to this virus, critical path provide resources for allied movements. Critical Path also helps you find the latest news on HIV/AIDS away from traditional news and get a fresh perspective on other issues from HIV to Peace initiatives.
