HIV Counseling and Testing October 27, 2008The Counseling and Testing team at Philadelphia FIGHT seeks to reduce HIV acquisition and transmission by providing the most up-to-date information about HIV to those who need it most. Counseling and Testing also mentors individuals in reducing their risk for contracting HIV, or spreading it to others.
According to the City of Philadelphia AIDS Activities Coordinating Office, Philadelphia is the epicenter of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Pennsylvania. As of December 31, 2007, more than 20,000 Philadelphia residents are living with the virus that causes AIDS. Many people do not know their status and have never been tested. HIV testing at Philadelphia FIGHT is free of cost and completely confidential. We welcome walk-ins Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm. Counseling and testing services are also provided at various sites through out the city. Our counselors are in the community, and offer the same level of high quality confidentiality and counseling available in our offices. We provide sexual health presentations to accompany HIV testing, and present on topics tailored to the needs of a specific audience or community.
